About 'restaurant monticello'|Monticello Restaurant Beer Dream Team (Part Three)








LongHorn               Steakhouse               claims               to               have               "taken               the               best               of               the               West               and               created               a               place               where               you               can               relax               and               unwind               in               a               comfortable,               inviting               atmosphere."               Since               one               recently               opened               in               nearby               Williamsburg               we               decided               to               give               it               a               try.

Located               at               3970-14               Monticello               Avenue,               adjacent               to               one               of               the               city's               most               popular               shopping               center's,               the               restaurant               is               well               positioned               just               off               highway               199               and               near               Interstate               64.

The               large,               open               steakhouse               has               lovely               high               wooden               ceilings               complete               with               wood               beams,               beautiful               faux               plaster               walls               with               an               stone               accent               wall.

It               definitely               gives               visitors               the               feeling               of               the               wide               open               spaces               of               the               plains.

There               is               nothing               closed               in               or               cramped               about               this               place.

It               exudes               comfort               from               its               spacious               booths               to               its               widely               spaced               tables               with               cozy               chairs.
               The               décor               includes               wonderful               chandeliers               with               a               definite               Native               American               feel               including               animal               antlers               and               upside               down               teepees.

The               walls               are               adorned               with               huge               landscape               paintings,               cowboy               prints,               and               traditional               cowboy               gear               like               hats,               chaps,               boots,               spurs,               and               lassos.

There               are               saddles               and               other               traditional               horse               gear               as               well               as               a               few               animal               heads               thrown               in               for               good               measure.
               Our               waiter               was               quite               attentive               and               patient               as               we               poured               over               the               menu,               which               offered               too               many               tempting               things               to               make               a               quick               or               easy               choice.
               We               opted               to               begin               with               the               Texas               Tonion,               which               were               crispy               fried               individual               onion               petals               that               came               with               a               delicious               horseradish-based               sauce.

We               decided               to               split               their               large               ribeye               steak               since               LongHorn               specializes               in               that               arena.

It               came               with               a               fresh               garden               salad               and               baked               potato.

For               beverages               we               settled               on               ice               tea.

We               also               requested               their               complimentary               bread.
               I               personally               didn't               care               for               the               bread,               which               was               whole               grain,               but               my               husband               loved               it.

That               was               highly               unusual               for               us               because               it               is               generally               the               other               way               around.

I               typically               love               whole               grain               items               and               my               husband               hates               them.

I               find               most               whole               grain               breads               tastier               than               the               more               typical               bland               white               bread.

This               one,               however,               had               very               little               taste               to               it               and               I               felt               it               was               a               little               on               the               heavy               side.

That,               however,               is               just               a               matter               of               taste               and,               since               it               is               complimentary,               should               not               affect               anyone's               overall               view               of               the               eatery.
               The               onion               petals               were               hot,               crisp,               and               delicious               particularly               when               dipped               in               the               delicate               spiced               sauce.
               The               salad               was               cold               and               crisp               but               the               Ranch               dressing               was               a               little               tart.

There               was               a               distinctive               lemon               taste               that               I'm               unaccustomed               to               with               that               type               of               dressing.

However,               that               is               again               a               matter               of               taste               and               may               well               appeal               to               most               people.
               The               tea               was               perfect;               not               too               weak               nor               too               strong               and               our               waiter               kept               our               glasses               full               throughout               the               meal.
               The               steak               was               unbelievably               delicious,               just               as               promised.

LongHorn               claims               a               commitment               to               delicious,               quality               steaks               and               they               deliver.

The               texture               definitely               spelled               "fresh"               and               not               frozen               (as               advertised)               and               it               was               grilled               to               absolute               perfection,               medium               as               ordered.

It               was               thick,               tender,               and               absolutely               scrumptious               from               the               first               bite               to               the               last.
               The               restaurant               uses               only               the               finest               quality               beef,               chicken,               pork               and               seafood               and               grills               each               item               to               order.

It's               a               recipe               for               freshness               that               their               guests               have               come               to               depend               upon.

Everyone's               taste,               whether               it               be               for               tender               and               juicy               steaks,               mouthwatering               chicken,               or               BBQ               ribs               that               fall               off               the               bone               should               be               easily               filled.

These               range               in               price               from               $3.99               to               $5.99               and               are               served               with               fresh               fruit,               seasoned               Fries,               and               a               drink.

Smoothies               in               banana,               peanut               butter,               and               raspberry               are               also               available               for               $1.99.

LongHorn               Steakhouse               is               equally               perfect               for               singles               who               want               to               meet               and               mingle               as               well               as               for               families               and               small               groups.

Menu               items               are               reasonably               priced               and               can               fit               into               most               budgets.

Don't               be               afraid               to               split               an               entree.

The               portions               here               are               large               enough               and               the               staff               is               has               no               problem               with               that               technique.

Plus,               it               allows               room               for               appetizers               and/or               desserts.

What's               better               than               that?
               The               restaurant               has               a               full               service               bar               as               well               and               carries               Coca-Cola               products.
               We               were               pleased               with               our               first               visit               to               LongHorn's               Steakhouse               and               we               will               likely               return               in               the               future.

I               recommend               this               restaurant,               giving               it               three               and               one-half               out               of               five               stars.
